Two more join the joes in the upcoming G.I. Joe live-action picture. Storm Shadow will be portrayed by Byung-Hun Lee, apparantly big in Korea but woefully unkown in Europe and surrounding continents. I doubt Lee is his real last name anyway.

The second casting is that of Shana “Scarlett” O’Hara, who will be portrayed by Rachel Nichols, relatively unknown due to her being in support roles most of the time. The most notable works being Alias & The Amityville Horror.

First off watch the following video of a Crysis physics engine demonstration, which is basicly a small test with 500 barrels filled with fuel and how they would react to gravity and/or bullets.

Pretty cool. Now imagine the same thing but add 2500 more barrels, whirlwinds and stackshaping, and you’ll get this:

I can only say that the computer running this little joke must cost OVER NINE-THOUSAAAAND!

Warner Brothers has officially released the first still of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the 6th movie currently heavily in filming. In this part of Rowling’s magnum opus, Harry is guided personally by Dumbledore, who prepares him for his eventual showdown with Voldemort. By exploring memories of those who have encountered Voldemort, Harry learns more of Voldemort’s past and his goal of achieving immortality. He also learns that if he wants to get rid of Voldemort, he needs to track down certain items of great historical value that are linked in a very peculiar way to the dark lord.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

As expected you see Harry carrying his marauder’s map and the actual potions book, property of the unknown Half-Blood Prince. (at least to those who haven’t read the book ^^) This book will teach him, in Harry’s words, “more than Snape ever taught him in years”. Reportedly Harry will have more of a sense of humour in this movie, his mind being safe from Voldemort invading and all. We’ll see him trying to get rid of Slughorn, giving Snape cheek and laughing at Ron’s moustache. And looking at what will happen in the last 30 minutes, you can’t say he won’t need it! (the sense of humour that is, not the moustache)

The second casting update on the live-action G.I. Joe movie came through yesterday, and it’s none other than one of the coolest action figures ever. Vietnam veteran and martial arts master Snake-Eyes will be portrayed by Ray Park. You may know him as Darth Maul from Star Wars, or Toad from the first X-men movie.

Ray Park is Snake-Eyes

Unless they stray from the original storyline we won’t see his face. And if we do it will be horribly mutilated, but I’m guessing he’s used to it. I’m curious for the next one!

Another blast from the past makes it’s return to all gaming platforms. (and soon to the big screen as well for a third installment) Ghostbusters! Adult men hunting down and trapping ghosts for a living in downtown New York. The original movie spawned quite a succesful cartoon series, a sequel to the first movie and some of the coolest toys ever in the eighties. Nowadays those same people who got the toys from their parents back then still haven’t forgotten them and celebrate Halloween with home-made costumes and props, and in some cases a custom mod of the ecto-1!

The time is now ripe for a videogame that will stay true to the movies, featuring script + voices of the original actors. Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray were some of the top comedy performers from the time, which gives the movie it’s own unique atmosphere. You can watch some ingame footage below, hotel scene from the first movie included:

Heath Ledger (from Buttcrack Mountain fame) is battling Batman as the psychopath clown for the upcoming movie The Dark Knight, the sequel to Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. There has been a lot of talk of how the Joker would look like, after all it’s one of the oldest superhero/villain stories around now. The first appearance of Batman‘s arch nemesis dates from the 1940 comic book, so there’s some critical acclaim to his looks. As Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies are of the darkest and most realistic settings to date, the look has to adapt to that. And I must say, it does answer the expectations. He looks like a true sadistic maniac, especially the eyes. Behold:

The Joker

Been a bit busy the past few days. A mate of mine and myself have been working on the final bits & pieces of a musical project. Designing/making a CD layout, small booklet and disc overlay and sending the lot to the printing-office,… You spend more time on it then you’d initially think, but the entire process has been a lot of fun. When the booklets arrive I’ll post the endresult here and do some promotion. ;)

The rest of the weekend has been laid back. I was a bit pissed about the way the web company I was applying to decided to decline me on thursday, without at least letting me come over for a talk and/or presentation. The resume was spiced up enough and I had mentioned adequate work experience, fulfilling all requirements. I just don’t get why they don’t just put a college degree on their requirements list if it’s so bloody important. Sigh… So I went out with a mate and bought ourselves a Wii game each; Resident Evil 4 and Blazing Angels. Resident Evil is finished by now and again the excellent atmosphere & Wii controls made the game for me, even though it’s a port from the GameCube.

I’ve also had the pleasure of getting to know The Boxer Rebellion, a band currently touring in support of Editors. Their myspace has a few damn good songs (Watermelon is brilliant; amazing intro, buildup, lyrics that fit and explodes in an awesome rock song). You can download the album ‘Exits’ (2005, not their latest work) from LastFM, free of charge. Enjoy!

You read it right, in Vietnam a 13 year old boy has strangled an 81 year old woman to death with a piece of a rope. Apparantly the kid needed money for his MMO subscription, and left the crime scene with the remarkable amount of 6.2 US dollars. After the deed was done he buried her in the front lawn. What the hell was he thinking? Something along the lines of “she’ll respawn at the nearest capped GY” or “Release spirit and run back, I won’t corpse camp”? There was also a second incident where a 15 year old demanded 300 dollars from a local shopkeeper, or face his 12 year old daughter being sprayed with sulfuric acid. And I thought I was arrogant at times, what the fuck?

When I was 13 years old I was still swinging on ropes and reading comic books. That kid won’t even get a proper jail sentence, but a place at a “reeduction camp”.  Camp Ay-Kill-Yuh, where they learn to sing ‘Kumbaya‘ around the bonfire? Give me a break. And the worst thing is that anti-gamer activists like Jack Thompson are gonna make the most out of this to try and restrict/ban as many games as they can, because one fucktard out of 10 million people needs to get his act together. It’s a wonderful world!

Who doesn’t know G.I. Joe? The concept itself dates from back in the 40′s, but the toy franchise as we know it celebrates his 25th year in 2007. They were the first toys of many of my generation, as well as subject to a cartoon and comic book series. In 2009 the franchise is coming to the big screen for a live-action movie, and the first casting update is now fact; Sienna Miller is playing the Baroness.

Sienna Miller Baroness

The casting job itself couldn’t be hard really. All you need is half a bottle of black hairdye and an actress no one ever heard of. Mark Wahlberg (whom I also mentioned a few posts back would be playing Max Payne) and George Clooney are both in the running for the roll of Duke, the leader of the G.I. Joe team.

Now all I need is an announcement of a Thundercats live-action movie and I’m happy!

Make it stop!

17Nov07

So I’ve gotten gut inflammation on friday night. Fucking excellent. Spent the entire following day sleeping cause sitting up straight, curled up, crooked or any other alternative results in the same annoying feeling in my abdomen. Much like a leprechaun with a rubber, but pointy pickaxe chopping away from the inside going “I be digging until I found me pot ‘o gold”. Newsflash pal, I know what’s inside there, and I can assure you it’s not golden coins. At least trying to sleep makes time pass.

While I’m resting some more, enjoy this epic scene from The Beach. 00:41 when he starts running again is hilarious. I’ll have to try coming off the train like this on monday if I’m better.
